Why Not Google Workspace

Google Workspace is the default choice for many businesses—it’s easy to set up, provides company email accounts, and offers collaborative tools like Docs, Calendar, and Drive.

But at Neon Law, we take a different approach.

🤝 Together, We Go Farther

We believe that a team is greater than the sum of its parts. No one individual is more important than the collective whole, and our structure reflects this philosophy.

  • 📢 Transparency is key – Our system ensures that communication is open, clear, and accountable.
  • 🛑 Avoiding unnecessary conflicts – We’ve seen how individual email accounts can lead to miscommunications, “spicy” messages, or inappropriate interactions. Using team-based emails eliminates this risk—with significantly fewer downsides.
  • 👥 We focus on roles, not individuals. Instead of thinking about “people,” we encourage our team to think in terms of “roles.” For example, rather than having a sole decision-maker, we define the role of a “partner”—ensuring continuity and collective leadership.

🔄 Our Approach: How We Do Things Differently

Email Forwarding for Individuals

We use DNSimple to forward emails (e.g., nick@neonlaw.com) to personal inboxes.

  • This allows us to use company emails for service sign-ups while maintaining a centralized admin system.
  • Outbound emails only come from team-based addresses, ensuring clarity and consistency.

No Google Drive for Clients

We do not collaborate within Google Drive. Instead:

  • Clients upload documents directly to the Neon Law Portal, where we can track changes if needed.
  • This ensures that all official documents are maintained in a secure, trackable environment.

Native macOS Tools Over Google Docs

We encourage our team to use macOS devices, meaning:

  • Instead of Google Docs → Pages
  • Instead of Google Sheets → Numbers
  • Instead of Google Slides → Keynote

🔐 Only official documents uploaded to the Neon Law Portal and properly annotated are recognized per your retainer.

✨ Why This Matters

Our approach isn’t just about avoiding Google Workspace—it’s about creating a stronger, more accountable, and transparent way to work together.

By focusing on team-first communication, role-based decision-making, and secure document handling, we create an environment where everyone is aligned and empowered.
